Brian Wilson says (in response to the release of the McCrone Report under Freedom Of Info) that Scotland was told of the benefits of oil under independence and rejected it. They were told this by the SNP! What Labour said was an independent Scotland would starve and be like Albania! This should be emphasised in the by election .
Attention should also be drawn to the Continental Shelf (Jurisdiction Order) 1968 where the North Sea was divided into Scottish and English sectors. London would have major problems contesting the legitimacy of this act since they created it! However recently Westminster redrew the Maritme boundary to Arbroath claiming it was for fishing ,but there is nothing stopping what few trawlers exist in English harbours fishing in SCotland s water prior to this! Besides fish not only do not respect international boundaries, they swim back and forward as a matter of natural behaviour. Labour have been remarkably quiet on this!
This should also be made public knowledge during your campaign.
In effect this amounts to misrepresentation of Scottish interests and is tantamount to treason! I would feel much happier if the SNP were to announce that post independence certain Unionist politicians could face charges of treason having knowingly acted against the best interests of the electorate in Scotland. There is little doubt that this happened, the only doubt being how many knew this and how many were just plain stupid enough to believe this crap, and it is difficult to see how the MPs and MSPs could be excused (although Colin Mackay is on record as saying he would be reluctant to send some of the Scottish Executive to the shops for a message)!
Fair comment indeed!
